Arusha, Tanzania
This amazing program has a huge impact on the lives of those less fortunate in Tanzania. Volunteers are placed at one of two hospitals. One of the hospitals is big enough to serve more than 250 outpatients per day with a bed capacity of 250. They also perform more than 1500 surgeries per year. The second one is the government health centre, which has a 45-bed capacity and can attend an average of 150 to 200 outpatients per day, with more than 500 surgeries per year. The hospitals cover all areas of modern medical care, including paediatrics, HIV/Aids, the malaria and tuberculosis clinic, eye and dental care, mental health, and the maternity ward. Volunteer work varies and depends heavily on interests and previous knowledge. An individual work plan is created for all interns and volunteers, outlining tasks and ensuring optimal care is given.
Goals of this Project:

It is open to those with experience and/or education in the field of medicine, as well as med-school students. Ideally, volunteers on this project will have at least a basic knowledge of the local language in order to communicate effectively with patients and staff, though this is not a pre-requisite.
Additionally, volunteers applying to join this program will be required to supply to following documentation:
